Criteria for Acceptance
Christian Women’s Job Corps of Granbury was created to provide job and life skills training to women who need to develop skills for employment. In order to empower these women for success, the following criteria are used as a guideline for acceptance into the program:
- An applicant must be willing to accept the program requirements in areas of responsibility and self-sufficiency with a desire to gain skills and knowledge for employment.
- An applicant must be physically and emotionally employable. She may be receiving disability, but still employable for a part-time position. If the applicant is receiving disability treatment by a doctor or counselor, she must request a letter from the person providing treatment stating her level of employability.
- An applicant must exhibit the emotional maturity and educational background to successfully participate in CWJC classes.
- An applicant must have her high school diploma, high school equivalency GED or may be admitted at the discretion of the Site Coordinator.
- An applicant must agree to a background check. The background check is reviewed for violent crime convictions and convictions for sexual crimes with children. Applicants with other types of convictions are reviewed and accepted at the discretion of the Site Coordinator. (This training program was created to offer a second chance to women in need.)
- An applicant must exhibit the willingness to make changes in behavior that will result in personal and spiritual growth.
- An applicant must be able to provide her own transportation to the training program. As funding is available, a gas allowance can be provided to help the participants come and go to class only.
- Childcare during the training program is provided, as funding is available.
- An applicant with chemical or drug dependency issues must have ninety days of sobriety and continuing attendance in a program such s Celebrate Recovery or a twelve step program such as NA or AA for at least one year following sobriety “birth” date. The participant will periodically need to provide verification of attendance to the Executive Director and/or Site Coordinator at the Executive Director and/or Site Coordinator’s request. Admittance to the CWJC program will be at the discretion of the Executive Director.
- CWJC of Granbury is not an employment agency. Our purpose is to provide job training and skills to maintain employment. However, we do network with employment agencies and provide job postings from the community as they become available.
- CWJC of Granbury accepts applicants from all religious backgrounds with no pressure to change their personal religious beliefs. We do, however, reserve the right to present information to them from a Bible-based perspective.
