Why Recognize A Woman Of The Year?

CWJC and Zonta want to honor women who emulate Christian values while achieving success . . . women who have worked hard, overcoming obstacles or hardships, to attain their goals . . . and women who are considered shining examples of community servants, leaders in their professions and/or organizations as well as role models for family and friends.

Opal Durant was such a woman. She made an indelible mark in the lives of many, in Granbury and beyond, because of her strong faith, fortitude and kind, loving spirit. She believed in helping women and children to achieve their dreams, particularly through education. Opal was a tireless community servant, a wise and talented businesswoman and the beloved matriarch of the Durant family. CWJC and Zonta are pleased to honor Opal Durant by naming their Granbury Woman of the Year Award in her memory.
